Biography

Louis Claude de Saulces de Freycinet (French pronunciation: [lwi d(ə) fʁɛsinɛ]; 7 August 1779 – 18 August 1841) was a French Navy officer. Following the 1800–1803 Baudin expedition to Australia, he published in 1811 the first map to show the full Australian coastline. He later circumnavigated the Earth, and was elected to the French Academy of Sciences in 1825.
