A coverage-weighted blend of the 2 components we could read for this hull — the weights renormalise over only the components present, so a thin read is never inflated and a hull is never credited a “safe 0” for a signal it has no row for. Higher means riskier. Derived in-house from government-open port-State-control, flag, sanctions and our own vessel data; weight it by the coverage above.

Method: vessel is on a sanctions list but has never appeared on our live AIS feed. Source: ais_positions (absence) + sanctioned_vessels.

Signals are a current-state view: a flag clears once the vessel stops tripping its detector. These are screening indicators, not a substitute for your own due diligence.

About This Vessel

IRIS Dena (75) (Persian: ناوشکن دنا) was a Moudge-class frigate in the Southern Fleet of the Islamic Republic of Iran Navy. She was named after Mount Dena, and was commissioned into the navy in 2021. She was sunk on 4 March 2026 during the 2026 Iran war by the Los Angeles-class submarine USS Charlotte of the United States Navy in international waters near the southern coast of Sri Lanka. She was the only ship to be sunk in active combat by a submarine since 1982, when the Argentine Navy cruiser ARA General Belgrano was sunk by torpedoes from the Royal Navy nuclear submarine HMS Conqueror during the Falklands War, and the only to be sunk by an American submarine since the Pacific theater of World War II.
