    On 08 June 2024, the bulk carrier "MICHIPICOTEN", with 22 people on board, reported taking on water and listing on its starboard side on Lake Superior off Ontanagon, MI, USA. Water was pumped out of the No. 4 starboard double bottom water ballast tank and the vessel proceeded under escort to Thunder Bay, ON. As a precaution, 11 crew members were disembarked while underway by the U.S. Coast Guard. Once alongside in Thunder Bay, ON, a diving operation revealed that the vessel had a 4 metre long crack on the bottom.
