A close quarters situation developed between the ALGOCEN and the fishing vessel LISA D No.1 off the Les Escoumins pilot station. The fishing vessel was no longer visible in the darkness due to an electrical failure of the navigation lights.

At 0550, 30 Sept 2000, the "ALGOCEN" was backing away from Sarnia Grain Elevator when the bow grounded lightly. Within 10 minutes the vessel freed herself. After inspection, no apparent damage was sustained and the vessel proceeded.
