    On 12 December 2017, the bulk carrier "STEPHEN B. ROMAN" reported an injured crew member who fell in the stairs while the vessel was transiting Lake Ontario in harsh weather. The vessel initially anchored 4 nautical miles SSW of Port Burwell, ON to medevac the crew member, but then resumed its voyage towards Port Colborne, ON to rearrange medevac in the Welland Canal.

    On 28 November 2015, the bulk carrier "STEPHEN B. ROMAN" reported one of its shipboard generators on fire while on Lake Erie. The fire was extinguished and the generator repaired.

About This Vessel

Stephen B. Roman was a Canadian bulk carrier operating on the Great Lakes owned by Lake Ontario Cement Company. The vessel was initially launched as Fort William in 1965 and owned and operated by Canada Steamship Lines. She carries dry cement to Great Lakes ports, and is named after prominent Canadian mining engineer Stephen Boleslav Roman. The ship was taken out of service in November 2018.
