Safety Record
- TOTAL FAILURE OF ANY MACHINERY OR TECHNICAL SYSTEMMinorJul 24, 2023Pointe à Mailloux, QUEBEC (QC)
On 24 July 2023, the bulk carrier "LUBIE", while under the conduct of a pilot, reported having sustained a total loss of electrical power causing a loss of propulsion while proceeding downbound in the St. Lawrence River off Saint-Joseph-de-la-Rive, QC. The engine was restarted and the vessel resumed its voyage.
- COLLISION - With another vessel or other floating objectSeriousJul 7, 2016Sarnia Yacht Club, Point Edward, ONTARIO (ON)
On 07 July 2016, the bulk carrier “LUBIE” reported a collision with a small training sailboat near the Bluewater Bridge, Point Edward (Sarnia), ON. The incident occurred after the training sailboat was pushed into the commercial shipping channel by the current and collided with the "LUBIE". The 2 students on board the sailboat were evacuated prior to the collision, and there were no injuries, damage, or pollution. Following the collision, the abandoned sailboat was towed to shore.

Composite Risk
Risk Score
Multiple adverse factors, or a hard ship-specific signal, lift this hull above the fleet norm.
A coverage-weighted blend of the 2 components we could read for this hull — the weights renormalise over only the components present, so a thin read is never inflated and a hull is never credited a “safe 0” for a signal it has no row for. This headline is flagged low-confidence (a thin or structural-only read) and should not be treated as a verdict. Higher means riskier. Derived in-house from government-open port-State-control, flag, sanctions and our own vessel data; weight it by the coverage above.
Estimated
Capacity & Classification
Bulker · summer draught 10 m · 37.9 t per cm immersion
Estimate only — modelled from deadweight (hull geometry) using a first-principles hydrostatic model, not measured hydrostatic tables. The design draught it is anchored to is unreliable across the fleet.
density DWT/GT=1.46 is consistent with declared bulker
Declared type is consistent with the class implied by the vessel’s size signals. Inferred via our shared size-based classifier.
