  • COLLISION - Struck by vesselModerate
Mar 17, 2019Vancouver Shipyard, BC., BRITISH COLUMBIA (BC)

On 17 March 2019, the bulk carrier "CARAVOS HARMONY", with 21 people on board and under the conduct of a pilot, while proceeding to Anchorage D in Vancouver Harbour, BC, reported collided with the bulk carrier "PAN ACACIA" anchored at Anchorage A, Vancouver Harbour, BC. The "CARAVOS HARMONY" later anchored at Anchorage D under its own power, escorted by the tug "SEASPAN RAVEN". Both vessels sustained major damage. No pollution or injuries were reported.

  • TOTAL FAILURE OF ANY MACHINERY OR TECHNICAL SYSTEMMinor
Mar 13, 2019Lonsdale Quay Seabus Terminal, North Vancouver, BC, BRITISH COLUMBIA (BC)

On 13 March 2019, the bulk carrier "PAN ACACIA", under the conduct of a pilot, reported that the main engine would not start as the vessel was approaching Anchorage A in Vancouver Harbour, BC. The vessel immediately requested assist tugs. Shortly afterwards, an assist tug arrived. The "PAN ACACIA" managed to start the main engine and the assist tug escorted the vessel to Anchorage A.

Read from the single most-recent AIS broadcast we hold for this hull — we keep no position history, so this is a point-in-time posture, not a dwell inference. Derived in-house from our own AIS feed; weight it by the broadcast age above.

A coverage-weighted blend of the 2 components we could read for this hull — the weights renormalise over only the components present, so a thin read is never inflated and a hull is never credited a “safe 0” for a signal it has no row for. This headline is flagged low-confidence (a thin or structural-only read) and should not be treated as a verdict. Higher means riskier. Derived in-house from government-open port-State-control, flag, sanctions and our own vessel data; weight it by the coverage above.
